Chicken Little and Porky-Lorky

Are people really not eating pork because of the swine flu? That seems like fear mongering at its utter height.

From the Globe and Mail- really, its the first time I've been to their site in over a month and THIS is what I see:

A porkfest on Parliament Hill? What could be more appropriate?

The Canadian Pork Council and Agriculture Canada held a noon-time barbecue in the courtyard of Parliament's East Block to demonstrate the safety of pork despite swine flu.

MPs and staffers of all stripes liked up for pork sandwiches dished up by cabinet ministers including Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, who made a point of eating one himself.

The line-up for the sandwiches was long and the service went on for more than half an hour. Even Michael Ignatieff took a bite.

Mr. Ritz said there were a lot of jokes about politicians handing out pork but this event was different because they hadn't picked a particular riding.
