U.S. won't end airstrikes, official says
In a blunt rebuff of the Afghan president, President Barack Obama's national security adviser said Sunday on ABC's "This Week" that the United States would not end airstrikes in Afghanistan even though they are blamed in the deaths of hundreds of civilians during the war.
Retired Gen. James Jones refused to rule out any action because "we can't fight with one hand tied behind our back." Gen. David Petraeus, chief of the U.S. Central Command, was less direct when asked on "Fox News Sunday" about Afghan President Hamid Karzai's demand to end airstrikes, but gave no indication the U.S. would comply.
