Women of Honour and the Approach

While I liked the letter put forth by three courageous Representatives, there are certain things that jumped out at me:

" the Taliban and other extremists to threaten the security of the U.S. or other nations"
The Taliban was NEVER a threat to the United States. Thinking so requires extreme imagination. Considering the approach to this war has been so unimaginative, it is not surprising that the hoary old justification, mind bending but convenient as it is, has all the appeal of a pedant.

"by military force alone"
A bit of a switch to getting out, out, out and offering the Afghans help if THEY want and ASK for it.

Self determination is key. And the fact that these courageous women have bought into the old lie that Afghanistan was actually a security threat is not the greatest! However, they are of course to be commended for their moderation, good sense and probity in much of the approach they recommend, and their staunch resolve in speaking about.

Interesting that one of the strongest anti-war voices is now Ron Paul, and he is a Republican. Perhaps America will change. But watch out for Kokesh to be elected- personally, I'm going to be checking his blog regularly, and will report on any interesting developments of note.
