KABUL, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Germany has decided to contribute 200,000 euros to the flood-affected people in Afghanistan, a press release of Afghan Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

"Germany's Foreign Ministry provided 200,000 euros emergency aid to flood-affected people in Afghanistan," the press release added.

This assistance would be disbursed to the most affected Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar and Balkh provinces, in the north region, for each 50,000 euros, the press release further stressed.

Heavy rains and flooding have left over 250 people dead and rendered hundreds of thousands other homeless over the past six weeks in Afghanistan.

Germany, according to the press release has contributed 85 million euros as humanitarian aid to Afghanistan since 2001.
