" Up in the Atmosphere, Up Where the Air Is Clear..."

I have often watched people out by the ocean bluffs in my town flying kites on the great updrafts of wind that continually blow in this area. And of course, having read The Kite Runner, and flown kites at the festivals in India, I can think of no more enchanting way to spend a hot summer's afternoon.

So, this is the kite that I have chosen for my adventures:

It is available from the Aschiana Foundation. Don't forget to scroll way down for order information! :) The kites are $20, plus nine dollars shipping anywhere in the continental US. They will ship anywhere in the world. Shipping is $12 for interested Canadians. I am really looking forward to flying mine :) The kites have a message of peace in Dari and Pashto, are bright and multicoloured, and given that they come from a place which is a world haven for kiting, likely fly like a dream. All of the proceeds go to feed starving Afghan children, and to provide healthcare for those children affected by disease or injured by war.
