Nearly 100% of Americans interviewed in a recent online poll claimed that they would rather have a beer at the White House with George Bush rather than Barack Obama - this comes after the President's invitation for Sgt James Crowley and Prof Henry Louis Gates to meet at the White House.

Cambridge police sergeant Jim Crowley and Henry Louis Gates, the Harvard scholar he arrested after responding to a report of a possible break-in at Mr Gates's home, will sit down with Mr Obama on Thursday for a conciliatory beer.

However, it is likely to be just one beer - and the American people know that - had it been the former President organizing the 'shindig' then it would have been a night to remember - strippers, jokes and at least 10 brewskis each!
