Abyss

It doesn’t really matter what kind of a person you think of yourself as, or what kind of doctrine you follow. What matters is who you know yourself to be. I am very confident that as this terrible war drags on, more and more people among us will be incited to do the right thing, as sure as butter melts in the sun. They will not only matter, they will have a voice. Most importantly, when look at back at this dark dawn of humanity’s fecklessness, they will be remembered. They will have an impact on us so profound that ten generations from now, people will utter their names.

You can count on it.

I am very pleased to report that the ACLU has come out with a press release demanding an FOI request on how many prisoners are being held at Bagram and what their names are. Three cheers for Melissa Goodman. Three cheers for the International Justice Network. Three cheers for Stanford and Yale, under whose auspices two more centres have contributed to this effort.
I look forward to seeing what will happen next. Will the Government respond? And what will they say?

At any rate, just as I promised, this is going to get very interesting.
